Xanthos

Xanthos makes document imaging easy and affordable.

Xanthos allows you to scan, index, store, retrieve, and distribute images of documents of varied sizes, such as letters, purchase orders, mailings, and bills.

At the time of scanning, Xanthos prompts you to categorize images for ease of retrieval, using an electronic categorization system analogous to a typical paper-based office utilizing "cabinets," "drawers," "files," and "document types." Misplaced images can easily be reclassified for ease of finding in the future.

The Images database, automatically constructed during scanning, contains all the items scanned, and can also accommodate documents imported from other systems, such as Excel spreadsheets or Word documents. Thus, you can keep all the documentation about a particular client in one electronic location. An imported document automatically uses its native program (i.e. EXCEL) when selected.

You can display the results of a search query in a variety of ways, by cascading them down the screen, one behind the other, or tiling them on the screen horizontally or vertically, or viewing images one at a time. Once you find an image, you can email it, PDF it, print it or export it at will.

You have a variety of choices in configuring the system to reflect your preferences in such areas as color, contrast, information transfer mode, error rate, and ADF (automatic document feed) vs. manual feed. Xanthos connects you to your scanner's configuration screen so you can make the choices you want.

Scanned images can be OCR'd, if you have an OCR engine, and can also be saved as PDF files and sent anywhere via the internet.

Xanthos uses commonly available TWAIN-compliant scanners, so you can choose the best one for your particular situation, and they are cheap. We recommend for general purpose use CANON desktop scanners.
