TWScan FAQs
Is TWScan able to handle
both 10 and 32 bit Twain?
Since the twain system connects to vendor-supplied drivers, TWAIN
scanning is somewhat at the mercy of driver suppliers - and there
are 16-bit and 32-bit drivers. Not all vendors (products) which
advertise twain drivers supply BOTH 16 and 32 bit. TWScan32 uses
thunking to service both 16 and 32 bit scanner drivers.
What image formats does
TWScan handle?
TWScan returns a DDB (TBitmap) directly into a TImage, or optionally
a DIB (THandle), and functions are provided to convert between
the two if you have TifIMG. These can be loaded into a TImage
and saved as a BMP, or, if using TifIMG, saved as GIF, BMP, TGA,
JPG, TIF and more.
What about automatic
document feeder scanners?
ADF scanners are a little different. The next version of TWScan
PRO will be tuned for production ADF scanners (we sell Fujitsu),
but there is a simple hack in the demo for TWScan32 to run simple
ADF scanners in batch mode.
Does TWScan work with
digital cameras?
Tested with Casio cameras - generally, if any image capture device
has a TWAIN driver, TWScan32 can interface with it.
Can I preset the scanner
without using the dialog box?
TWScan32 allows you to show or hide the user interface, and to
set resolution, palette, bit depth, and units of measure under
program control. Setting the scan area differently from what the
interactive dialog box shows depends on the vendor supplied system
for tracking preferences. Often this is an INI file which can
be changed on the fly.
