Sailing
San Juan Islands,
Washington state and British Columbia
Some years ago I quit my job with a major international company, sold my house,
and bought a 30' Coronado in Long Beach, California with a partner,
John. We sailed the boat during the spring, summer and fall up
the coast to Seattle, with Mary and another friend. We thought we
were heading for Alaska, but didn't realize how long it would take
to go upwind. The boat was named "Long Gone - Boulder, CO."
Since Colorado is landlocked and 1,200 miles from an ocean, that
elicited more than a few questions as to how we navigated the boat
down the rivers to the sea.
